For IT Administrators
Problem:
Clicking the “Map” button before completing the Introduction to Building Community results in a black screen. Learners must click “Exit Program” to close the program and then log on to the Ninth House Network again before they can resume learning.
Solution:
Ninth House Network recommends downloading the Building Community patch below to resolve this issue.
Please note that the following steps should be undertaken by an IT administrator familiar with the Ninth House media server setup and installation.
To update your organization’s media servers with the Building Community patch:
- Log on as the administrator of your combo or nonstreaming media server.
- Right-click here and select "Save Target As..." from the pop-up menu.
- For default installations of Internet Information Server (IIS), copy the .swf file to the following folder:
<drive>:\inetpub\nhmedia\bc\
where <drive> is the disk partition where IIS is installed.
For custom installations of IIS or alternate Web servers, copy the .swf file to the following folder:
<drive>:\<root>\nhmedia\bc\
where <drive> is the disk partition where IIS is installed and <root> is the location of the Web server’s root folder.
- Test the patch installation (see the testing instructions below).
To test the patch:
- Log on to the Ninth House Network as a member who has access to the Building Community program.
- From the Network Home Page, click “Building Community” in the "Launch Course + Simulation" column.
- After the Introduction begins, click the “Map” button (upper left).
If the program map appears, the patch has been successfully installed. If a black screen appears, please contact Ninth House technical support (1.800.969.9646 or e-mail support@ninthhouse.com).
